A Teddy Bear for Maggie

The teddy bear is FINALLY done and in the mail! Our niece was born last week and her favorite (I hope!) teddy bear is in the mail on it's way to her. 

 

After the working on the teddy so long not having a face I wasn't sure if I wanted to put one on. Hoping she grow to love it as much as I loved making it for her!

Knitted Bear Continued with Knitted Bow

I've been in a bit of a crafting slump lately while fighting a cold. Our niece should be arriving any day so I figure I better get started putting her bear together.

I have decided that each bear I make will have its own personal touch. My first a tie, this bear will have a bow.

In the end I decided against a liner because it was too much of a headache trying to get it to work. Hoping my niece will love this bear as I have working on it! When I'm finished putting the bear together I'll update with a picture.

All the pieces before stuffing and putting it together.

I knit a rectangle for the bow with a super long tail.  Pinching the middle together and sewed it together. Wrapping the yarn around the middle and sewing it in place in the back of the bow.

Teddy gets a tie (Doll tie knit pattern)

I decided that the teddy bear I knitted in the spring seemed like he was missing something. So I've knitted him a tie.

I played around with the yarn and my knitting needles and came up with my own pattern. I used size US 10 (6 mm).

Tie pattern:

Cast on 1 & knit

Row 2: knit 1, make 1

Row 3: knit 1, make 1, knit 1

Row 4: knit 1, make 1, knit 2, make 1

Row 5: knit 1, make 1, knit 4, make 1

Row 6: knit 1, make 1, knit 6, make 1

Row 7: continue knitting until desired length.

I used a color coordinating button to attach the tie together. If knit long enough it could be tied in a Windsor knot, etc. Teddy is now complete and looking very professional in his new tie!
